The Podstory PetiteStep XXV addresses the chronic market gap for narrow-footed individuals whose feet measure below the standard B width classification, a demographic estimated at 15% of the adult population who consistently experience heel slippage, strap gapping, and toe overhang in standard-width sandals. The footbed narrows progressively from the standard heel width dimension to 88% of standard width at the metatarsal ball and 82% of standard at the toe box, precisely following the narrower foot geometry common in individuals of South and East Asian ancestry, Northern European ancestry, and those with naturally tapered foot anatomy. A secondary medial heel strap added at the posterior calcaneus eliminates the heel lift-off that causes standard-width slide sandals to flap during walking in narrow-footed individuals, a problem audible as the characteristic slapping sound of loose footwear. The strap width is proportionally reduced to 28 mm at the midfoot to maintain an aesthetically balanced appearance against the narrower footbed profile, avoiding the visually disproportionate wide-strap look of standard sandals on narrow feet. EVA foam hardness is set at Shore A 44, appropriate for the lighter average body weights associated with the narrow-foot demographic.
