The Podstory ArcticWarm XXI challenges the conventional seasonal limitation of open-toe sandals by integrating thermal insulation technology derived from the outdoor apparel industry, enabling comfortable indoor wear at ambient temperatures as low as 10 degrees Celsius without the bulk of closed footwear. The footbed incorporates a 5 mm layer of aerogel-infused EVA positioned between the main midsole and the inner surface, providing a thermal resistance value of R-1.2 per centimeter of thickness, blocking upward heat transfer from cold floor surfaces including concrete, ceramic tile, and hardwood in unheated spaces. The strap upper is lined with a 3 mm layer of recycled polyester fleece with a thermal resistance of 0.15 clo, warming the dorsal foot surface during passive standing without restricting circulation. The outer EVA compound is modified with antifreeze additive technology that prevents the material from becoming rigid at temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius, maintaining the same cushioned feel in cold garages, ski lodge changing rooms, and outdoor markets that EVA delivers in warm conditions. Slip-resistant winter outsole pattern with 60-degree angled micro-lugs expels slush and wet snow from underfoot contact zones at walking pace. Available in winter colorways including pine green, burgundy, slate blue, and warm amber.
